The Old Ladies Who Liked Cats. Written by Carol Greene. Illustrated by Loretta Krupinski. Harper Collins Publishers, 1991. 32 pages. A wonderful ecological folktale inspired by Charles Darwin's observations. An island's ecosystem is upset when the mayor issues a nighttime curfew for cats. Although out of print, this title may be found on the shelves of many libraries and is worth locating. Fiction picture book. Interest level: Gr. PreS-3.
